Pride 2024

Pride will return to the streets of the capital on Saturday 29th June 2024, with a number of events taking place in Brixton. Here are some considerations for you in preparation for activities:

  • Ask for Angela, WAVE  and Ask for Clive – make sure your staff are trained in welfare and vulnerability protocols including Ask for Angela, Welfare And Vulnerability Engagement (WAVE) and Ask for Clive. Brixton BID offer free WAVE and Ask Angela training through our partners at Safer Business Network.
  • Security – Consider use of SIA at your event.
  • Safety – Think about the safety of your patrons arriving and leaving your premises. If you are holding a Pride event, consider speaking with other venues in close proximity to you so they can brief their door staff to support your patrons safety on the way to and from the venue.
  • Glassware – Consider removing glassware and decanting bottles.
  • Licensing – Check conditions on the Premises Licence to make sure that you are complying with all requirements, and if a Temporary Event Notice (TENs) is needed.
  • Risk Assessment – If you are hosting an event, ensure you complete a risk assessment to support you and help work through potential issues and solutions.
  • Additional Support – In an emergency, call the police immediately.

Even if your venue is not hosting a specific event, show your support to the LGBT+ community by assisting members of the public, consider undertaking welfare training and make sure your staff are up to date on Ask Angela. We want everyone to enjoy a safe night out in Brixton, make sure your patrons enjoy a fantastic Pride.
