Brixton Markets Heritage Walks
What’s the name of the hit record named after one of Brixton’s Markets?
Which former Prime Minister began his political career on a soapbox in Brixton Market?
Join us to discover the culture, history and diverse community of one of London’s most eclectic areas with a Love Your Local Market guided heritage tour. Get under Brixton’s skin with a 75 minute guided walk led by a member of the Brixton Society, taking in the street markets, covered arcades and shops exploring their 150-year-old heritage.
On this walk you will be taken down memory lane, exploring how Brixton became South London’s biggest shopping centre by the 1920s. The development of shopping was one of the key elements in the development of Brixton and a vital part of its history that’s made it was it is today.
Feedback from one recent walker: “Truly fantastic; best walking tour I’ve been on in London; huge thanks”.
