Lobbying for you

As the world pays tribute to the passing of Her Majesty the Queen, we commemorate her dedication and commitment to serving the country over the last 70 years.

Our focus now turns to the challenges businesses are facing with rising costs. Unless the Government steps in with targeted measures for individuals and businesses, our town centre and community will struggle.

To support you and our community, we have joined lobbying groups to tackle the cost-of-living and cost of trading crisis where, together with other national organisations and BIDs across the country, we have put forward a series of solutions through various asks and lobby for the right level of support.

The Business SOS campaign is being supported by UK Hospitality, British Beer and Pub Association, Night Time Industries Association (NTIA), British BIDs, The BID Foundation and ATCM. The campaign focuses on VAT reduction, Business Rates and Energy rate relief. The campaign warns the Government of mass closure and redundancies if immediate and effective action isn’t taken to implement measures that will alleviate the critical pressures that businesses, like households, have been facing since April 2022. Alongside this work we have co-signed a letter with Lambeth Council and other local BIDs, calling for an energy price cap and business rate discount.

If you are being affected by the rising prices and costs, feel free to share your story with us so that it can be used as a case study when lobbying on your behalves.

Together, we have already shown how resilient our business community is during difficult times and together, we will continue to make Brixton the best place to work, live and play.
