Opportunity Lambeth is a Lambeth Council initiative that brings local job opportunities and local people together.
From hotels to cafes, office space and cultural venues – the hard work that Brixton’s businesses put in year on year helps to creates thousands of new jobs in our borough. The Council want to make sure that our residents have the chance to fill these vacancies and develop a career on their doorstep.
Lambeth residents have a lot to offer, and the benefits of recruiting local people are well established. These include:
- Wages spent back into the local economy
- Staff who are knowledgeable about the area, and are connected to the customer base
- Employees who can reliably commute in, and do so via environmentally friendly means such as walking and cycling.
Opportunity Lambeth has an online jobs board for advertising vacancies within the borough, and a team of employment advisors who can point our residents in the direction of appropriate opportunities. There are also links to local Jobcentres and other referral partners such as colleges so that employment opportunities can be shared even more widely.
