Incident on Railton Road

At approximately 19:50hrs on Sunday 30th October 2022 police were called to reports of gunshots heard on Railton Road, SE24. Officers (including firearms officers) attended along with the London Ambulance Service. Two men were found injured at the location. Despite the efforts of emergency services, they were both pronounced dead at the scene. The nature of their injuries has not been confirmed at this time.

Post-mortem examinations will be held in due course. A number of roads in the area are closed and crime scenes are in place. At this stage, there have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

This was a shocking incident that has resulted in two young men being tragically killed – our thoughts are with the families of both victims who are being supported by specially trained officers.

A dedicated team of detectives are working tirelessly to identify those responsible. They are making progress but they need the public’s help.

Local residents will see an enhanced police presence in the area and are advised to speak with officers if they have any information.
