Have you seen the ‘Views on the Atlantic’ build from our winners of our London
Festival of Architecture (LFA) design competition ‘People at the Centre of Brixton’?
Brixton Community Cinema with Bamidele Awoyemi, Farouk Agoro and Livia Wang, make up the winning team for ‘Views on the Atlantic’ which see two cinema-facilitating interventions installed at Atlantic Road and Windrush Square. Both sites also serve as places for ‘gathering, education and artistic expression’, during the day. For example, with a series of learning workshops at Atlantic Road.

Since the installations have arrived, we’ve received some great coverage from the team at the Southwark News, read more on the story here.
The cinema screening programme seeks inspiration from LFA theme ‘In Common’ and is a celebration of Brixton’s rich cultural and historical past. Displays of archival photography and film have been gathered from local organisations and archives, such as Lambeth Archives, Ritzy Cinema and Black Cultural Archives. The interventions also have a varied input from local creatives and international community cinemas.
‘Views on the Atlantic’ has been installed to align the 70th Anniversary of Windrush Square and will remain until 2 July 2023. Brixton is one of 7 official LFA Destinations and forms a key part of the overall LFA Programme.
