Brixton Rec – Job Opportunity

Short-Term Training and Paid Work Experience Opportunity for Lambeth Residents between the age of 18 – 30yrs old.

  • Revisiting Brixton Rec : documenting living histories Revisiting Brixton Rec is a community heritage project to create an archive of oral histories, photographs and other digital objects about the often neglected histories of Brixton Recreation Centre. Brixton Rec wants to capture your experiences of the energy, tournaments, conferences, exhibitions and parties at The Rec that make the building, and the ways we use it so special. The project aims to ensure these histories become an archive and resource for future generations.


Short-term training and paid work experience opportunity Brixton Rec are looking for four Lambeth Residents to be trained in oral recording and transcription, scanning and photography, archiving and cataloguing and to assist historian Kelly Foster to gather oral history interviews about memories and experiences of The Rec, from its opening in 1985 to the present day.

The training will take place in November 2022 at Brixton Rec. Each participant will be offered 34hrs employment, paid at the London Living Wage, that will be scheduled between December 2022 – March 2023.
